Congratulations to the following Stark State students for winning this year's SME Scholarship!


Eric Hovinga - Mechanical Engineering Tech

When not in class or studying, Eric enjoys hiking, fishing, drawing, and working in his garden. 

Eric is a member of the Akron Makerspace where he practices woodworking, electronics repair, computer programming, and metalwork. 

Semester of proposed graduation: Spring 2021 

He is currently looking for an entry level position in the renewables sector, specifically wind.  "I look forward to beginning my journey in clean energy upon graduation."


Curtis Warga - Electrical/Electronic Engineering Tech

Curtis enjoys competing in triathlons, ultramarathons, and crossfit.  He also enjoys scuba diving in the summer and working on cars on the weekends.

Curtis started a small business this past year that specializes in ceramic coatings for cars.  He also works for his father’s company that specializes in building custom testing equipment for the nuclear and automotive industry. 

Semester of proposed graduation: Fall 2021 with two associates degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering.
