These 3 Mistakes May Be Costing You Top Talent

Highly skilled candidates have taken control of the market as companies struggle to address sourcing challenges, while also unknowingly putting themselves at risk of losing those same elite candidates once they've entered their pipeline.

Three, four, five round interviews are quickly becoming a thing of the past as priorities shift and companies work to create a more seamless application process.

Here are the top three things to avoid when it comes to hiring experienced candidates quickly:

1.  Remove any unnecessary interview rounds

With top candidates in the driver's seat, it's important to reduce as much friction as possible and maintain a quick but thorough interview process. Opt for panel or group style interviews to ensure key decision makers are still included.

2.  Avoid generic interviews: Don't shy away from discussing technical qualifications

It is important for organizations to maintain a strong employer brand throughout the hiring process. Candidates note that it reflects well on the employer when an interviewer has a deeper understanding of the technical skills needed to perform the required duties, compared to a more generic interview that simply checks the boxes. Additionally, an interview where a candidate feels they've made a genuine human connection is more likely to result in an acceptance should an offer be made.

3.  Get back to your candidates in a timely manner

It is no secret that time is of the essence during a talent shortage. Keeping a candidate's attention is one of the best ways to ensure your pipeline stays full.
