Curbing the Ongoing Spread of COVID-19

Seifert Technologies • May 13, 2020
Seifert Technologies, along with our partner, Hitachi Vantara, offers state of the art technology to help protect your employees and business against the spread of COVID-19. These technologies include thermal imaging, 3D Lidar monitoring, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics, without capturing any personally identifiable information.
PowerPoint title slide,
Businesses and organizations need to prepare and mobilize solutions now to prevent the second and third waves of Coronavirus, or future infections from affecting their workers, passengers, and customers.
Recommended actions include:
  • Containment: detect and reduce contact with symptomatic people
  • Prevention of spread: detection of hand washing, wearing safety equipment, social distancing, elevated temperature alert, etc.
  • Innovating policy to prevent and prepare: form data-driven policies and measure compliance, while developing response plans for the next outbreak

Thermal Sensing

Containment: Detect and Alert for high temperature
Elevated temperature detection and containment workflow for the first line of defense, with non-invasive or labor-intensive methods that offer privacy protection.
  • Thermal cameras detect high temperatures in crowds without invasiveness of IR gun to forehead, and allowing of faster throughput and freedom of movement
  • Automated alerts for temperatures above a preset threshold push to Hitachi Visualization Suite, showing location of detection and real time view, and event is recorded for later analysis
  • Digital incident footage, PDFs, audio, etc. is stored and managed in HVS Archive, with chain of custody and incident details stored in independent folders
  • 3D lidar or video analytics provide foot traffic information for statistical analysis, with privacy protection
Graphics for three stages: Fever detection, Alerts and Analysis, and Incident Management Archive
  • High Accuracy 98,4%* obtained after comparing results of hundreds of individuals manual temperature reading vs. thermal camera automatic temperature reading. Tests were executed on simulated different atmospheric conditions (heat, AC, outdoors)
  • Critical real-time reporting. Real-time reporting of temperature reading for rapid commissioning and management.
  • Detects and triggers an alarm per every individual exceeding the fixed temperature.

Lidar Monitoring Solutions

Prevention: Social distancing
  • 3D Lidar AI solution learns and calculates the location of its view
  • Captures no private information
  • Alerts and analytics can be created to
    • Track movement
    • Count people in an area
    • 3D model to detect specific objects and behaviors
    • Define alerts based on distance “Social Distancing”.
Privacy Protection: Generating Rich Insights Without Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
Video Privacy Protection:
  • Detects people and pixelates or color-masks full body
  • Additional analytics can analyze original images
  • Transparency:
  • Original feed can be accessed for investigations, requiring a keycard and passcode; actions are tracked for privacy regulation compliance
3D Lidar:
  • No personally identifiable information (PII) is captured
  • Can be used in privacy-sensitive locations
  • Privacy protected by design
