Seifert Technologies of Massillon has opened a new division office in Independence, the company announced this week.

The firm, which employs about 50 people at its Massillon headquarters and an office in Nashville, Tenn., provides engineering, IT and technical staffing services. The majority of its work is in custom machine design and automation for manufacturers, according to Zachary Glass, Seifert Technologies' sales and marketing manager.
The new division, which opened at the start of the year on Oak Tree Boulevard, will better position the company to serve clients in the Cleveland area, Glass said. Currently, a few engineers are floating up from the Massillon office, he added, but the company expects a group of five to staff the site within the next few months. Those positions will be a combination of existing and new employees.

The move also places the company, which was founded in 1985, closer to organizations with which it works, such as the Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network (Magnet) and Team NEO's Smart Manufacturing Innovation Cluster, Glass said.
"Seifert Technologies is proud of our long-standing presence in Northeast Ohio, and we are pleased to further our commitment to the Cleveland area with the addition of our new office," president Tim Seifert said in a statement.
Seifert Technologies started as an engineering firm concentrating on the rubber-tire and iron-steel industries, according to its website. As markets changed, the firm expanded to create its IT, design/build and staffing units. Glass said that mechanical and electrical engineering still make up about 70% of Seifert's business.
