Thank you to everyone who attended our Cleveland Technology Symposium. In case you missed it, here’s a recap of the event.

 

The Engineering Division Utilizes State-of-the-Art Design Tools

Our Mechanical Engineering Department utilizes 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor.  We highlighted several different projects which we have recently performed for our customers.  These projects incorporate the latest technology that is utilized in designing state-of-the-art custom equipment.

We demonstrated a Fanuc LR Mate R-30iB robot integrated with an Allen Bradley CompactLogix 5380 PLC. We programed the robot to demonstrate basic pick and place operations, tool changes, motion capabilities and final assembly.


For the End of Arm Tooling, we utilized SMC MA3 series robotic tool adaptor and tooling stands. These systems utilize compressed air to engage or disengage tools, making tool changes faster, more efficient, and versatile. Underneath the table we built out the rest of the pneumatic package with SMC valves and regulators and a whisper quiet Werther P50/15AL/115V air compressor.

Seifert Engineers integrated all of the commercial parts by designing and 3D printing the part fixtures and End of Arm Tooling adaptors. We printed the parts using PetG or PLA material depending on the component. Our Electrical Engineers designed and built our own control system to talk to the robot and wrote the program which automates every motion.


We have been in the 3D printing business since 2015.  Our wide array of printers utilize the FDM process.  We displayed our most recent printer at the symposium, boasting a 450mm x 450mm x 470mm maximum build size, with the capability of printing PLA, PA, ABS, PLA-Wood, PLA-CF, TPU, and PETG materials. Seifert’s engineering/design strengths couple well with 3D printing technology, as we can evaluate the end use of the printed parts to best determine the ideal model setup and printing process.

Our Mechanical Engineering Department utilizes 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor. We highlighted several different projects which we have recently performed for our customers. These projects incorporate the latest technology that is utilized in designing state-of-the-art custom equipment. This includes precision bearings, ball screws, servo motors, linear slides, gear boxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and many other items commercially available. We pride ourselves on creating the most effective design for your requirements that can be manufactured on a cost-effective basis. Our Designers are not only industry experts in solid modeling, but they also understand the manufacturing techniques associated with machining, welding, fits, finishes and machine assembly.

Software Automation is the key piece of process control, and there are several tools for optimizing equipment functionality. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) utilize software to create this automation platform. Software replicates human-like tasks for repetitive actions, orchestrating equipment movements and tracking throughput.

Our software developers presented Microsoft’s Power BI product. This Business Intelligence tool takes accumulated data, analyzes the data, and presents useful information in graphical form to the end user. We use data from IIoT devices in manufacturing environments, time clocks, spreadsheets, and other software applications to help customers make sense of their data. It can also take Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and show clearly how people or machines are performing on the job.


Seifert Technologies is a Microsoft Gold level partner, certified in Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop operating systems, as well as being Cloud Service Providers for both Azure and Microsoft 365.
